Seasonal Event Positions
VGM CON is looking for volunteers during the event. We need a variety of roles, from badgers to registration to merch sales to main stage tech and more! No prior experience needed — just your enthusiasm! All volunteers report to GR board member, Sarah.

Hey you! Thank you for joining the VGM CON Volunteer group! Events like ours couldn’t function without people like you. Here are some common sense guidelines that we want to make you aware of. By signing up for a volunteer role, you agree to the following:
-All volunteers must abide by the VGM CON Code of Conduct. https://vgmcon.org/rules/
-All volunteers must adhere to the VGM CON COVID-19 policy. https://vgmcon.org/covid19/
-As a volunteer, you pledge to be as helpful as possible to both staff and attendees.
-Please arrive at OPS at least 5 minutes prior to your scheduled shift.
-Any questions or concerns should be directed to Sarah Suardi.
-All volunteers must fill out a volunteer application on Volgistics.
-All volunteers must work their entire shift in order to receive credit for their time.
-All volunteer hours reset annually 4 weeks prior to that year’s VGM CON.
-The VIP Suite should NOT be viewed as a meal replacement- please make sure you keep yourself well-fed, well-washed, and well-rested during the convention!
-You must be 16 or older to volunteer.

8 hours- VIP suite access
12 hours- 50% off future VGM CON weekend registration (non-transferable)
20 hours- Free future VGM CON weekend registration (non-transferable), and a discounted hotel room rate (non-transferable)
Limited Year-Round Positions
VGM CON is hiring passionate volunteers who are looking to contribute year-round. These positions are most active during 1/3 of the year leading up to VGM CON. The other 2/3 of the year require minimal amounts of participation.

Description:
The Safety Specialist is responsible for managing and enforcing the security policies and procedures of the event. This role will engage a community of small businesses, reach out to new exhibitors, and provide clear communication before, during, and after an event.
In this position, you and your team will:
- Create and update safety policies and procedures for attendees, staff, and stakeholders.
- Recruit onsite volunteers to assist in patrols and conflicts.
- Ensure incident logs are completed and stored properly for review by the board of directors.
- Help direct attendees in rooms to increase or decrease capacity.
- Enforce room capacities.
- Assist and/or escalate minor first aid requests.
- Assist in room closures during the event.
Time commitment, location, and availability:
The Safety Specialist will be a limited year-round remote position. The needs of the position vary depending on the time of year. The time commitment estimates are as follows:
- 8 months before the event: 1-2 hours per month with 1 committee meeting required per month.
- 3 months before the event: 4-8 hours per month with 2 committee meetings per month.
- 1 month before the events: 8-14 hours per month with at least 2 committee meetings in the month.
- During the event: the Safety Specialist MUST be onsite for VGM CON starting one day before the event. Once the event starts, the Safety Specialist will be on-call for emergencies and expected to assist throughout the event.
- After the event: 4-6 hours to finish and reports or tie-up loose ends.

Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- CPR Certified
- First-Aid Certified
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruits and trains new staff.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
Physical requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time without sitting.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a station.
