Frequently Asked Questions
What is VGM CON?
VGM CON is a video game convention celebrating video game creation. From their art, music, development, and storytelling, video games are highly advanced works of art. We celebrate it by creating a space that talks about gaming in this way and bringing fans and professionals together for a coming interest.

Thanks for presenting at VGM CON. All ticket sales are final, but we have many options for your extra ticket. You can transfer or give your extra ticket away to your fans, you can defer the ticket to next year, or you can donate the ticket value to VGM CON/Gamer’s Rhapsody, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization as a nontaxable contribution.
What do I do at this convention?
At our convention, you can compete in tournaments, listen to over dozens of video game music performances, watch panels, play games, learn music in our orchestra clinic, play locally developed games, find nerdy merch, and much more.
Do my kids need to pay to get in?
Children ages 8-15 have access to a discounted rate. Children 7 and under will get in for free with an adult. Kids 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult at the convention.
What can I do to get involved?
There are many ways to get involved at VGM CON. You can volunteer, host a panel, perform, show a game, write faqs, sell merch, and more.
Attendees: What Kind of convention is this?
It’s a video game media convention. We celebrate all aspects of video games including the development, narrative, art, and music. So besides being able to play games from local developers, you can listen to video game music, talk with artists, and even play music for others.
Will there be panels?
Yes there will be. See Schedule
I’m not much of a video games person, but instead like board games. Why should I come?
We will be offering a board gaming room along with music, some card tournaments, and other fun events.
How much does it cost to go?
See ticket info.
Will there be food?
Food will be available from the hotel restaurant, concession stand, and hotel lobby kiosk. Food is available to VIP ticket holders in the VIP lounge during open hours. Outside food and beverage is not allowed in the event space.
What if I buy a ticket and find out I can’t go?
All sales are final on tickets, however you’re allowed to transfer the name on the ticket to someone else who can go.
What if there’s a snowstorm?
VGM CON will continue through the snow unless the state declares an emergency and shuts down all the roads (ALL the roads). We recommend getting a hotel room Friday and Saturday to limit travel and to enjoy our late night concerts. There could be some time delays on mainstage events to give performers and attendees extra time. If this happens, there will be an announcement on all communication channels.
Do people cosplay?
Yes! We encourage cosplay at VGM CON as long as it is family friendly.
Do you have room parties?
We don’t have room parties, but we have a really cool Voodoo Ranger Lounge.
Do you need volunteers?
YES! We are looking for volunteers. See our volunteer page.
Do people actually frequently ask these questions?
Yes. Including this question.
Was that last question a little sarcastic?
Yes it was.
So basically the person writing this FAQ just has a conversation going on in their head.
Yes. The person writing this is attempting to think about possible questions people might ask. Some of them will likely never be asked…but maybe someone didn’t want to ask?
This got really meta?
Yes. Indeed it did.
So if I have a question that’s not answered, what can I do.
