8-bit & The Single Players began as a side project for 8-bit, the man behind the 8-bit Music Theory YouTube channel. 8-bit’s mission is to bridge the gap between thoughtful instrumental music and the broader music-listening public, and with the Single Players he aims to do this with arrangements that are as exciting for the casual listener as they are for the die-hard music nerd. The greatest and most memorable video game melodies of the last 40 years are turned on their head, played in brand new styles that put them in a new light, and used as vehicles for the band to launch into thrilling, high-octane improvisations. 8-bit’s arranging style takes the in-the-moment energy of jazz, the explosive energy of rock and fusion music and puts it all together within structures reminiscent of progressive rock music, ensuring every piece builds into climactic musical moments that will leave the audience with something to remember.
